5 Ways To Rid Yourself Of Worries, Anxiety And Other Emotional Trash
I'm an emotional pack rat. Stockpiled in my subconscious are scores of memories from the past and worries about the future that I stumble over every day. Anxiety and worrying can trip anyone. Here are some simple things that will help us let go and enjoy life.
1) Meditate. Take a few minutes. Sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Now, focus on your breath. Then, empty your mind. For me, my mind is always wondering, I find mentally verbalizing helps. I say to myself: "inhale" and "exhale". Try to work up to 30 minutes a day.

2) Exercise. Not only is working out good for the tummy and the thighs but it also helps you get an emotional high. Research shows that exercising just 30 minutes a day for at least 3 days a week can help with anxiety, even depression. If you don't have 30 minutes, a few minutes of exercise may be enough to distract you.
3) Write and release. Take a piece of paper and jot down that persistent thought. Next, erase it, scratch it out, burn it, whatever feels better. The symbolic gesture just might work.

4) Get rid of negative thoughts. Seems simple enough, but if you're like me, negative thoughts are rampant. Replace those thoughts with a positive mantra or simply screaming (sometimes verbally) "STOP".
5) Surrender. I don't mean surrender as in give up. I mean surrender as in turning your worries over to a higher power. The practice of yoga has many poses that promote surrendering like Savasana (Corpse Pose). James M. Waters
